Breadcrumbs

Breadcrumbs is a geo-tagging mobile app written by Jeff Schneider, Kyle Cierzan, David Valencia, and myself, in React Native. Users can drop "crumbs" marking their location and attach notes to those crumbs about that location. They can also save the routes they travelled as "trips." The biggest problem we encountered with Breadcrumbs, if this is even considered a problem, is that many versions of this already exist in app stores!

RateLabor

RateLabor is one of my hackathon submissions. It is a proof of concept for a glassdoor for human trafficking. Human trafficking survivors would be able to rate the organizations and recruiters that "employ" them. It would help people who are at risk of being trafficked distinguish between a legit work opportunity and a horrible scam. The biggest problem I encountered with this app is that many people who are at risk of being trafficked do not have internet access.

Prism

This is a submission to the 2016 NASA Space Apps Challenge. We were wondering how strong of a correlation exists between air pollution and human health. Our solution is a mobile-friendly web app called Prism. We layered NASA EOSDIS aerosol optical depth imagery over a map with pins marking the locations of users who reported elevated symptoms indicative of respiratory illness through our app, or by simply tweeting their symptoms.  Additionally, we compared the frequency and intensity of users’ symptoms on a scatter diagram and visualized worldwide air quality reports on a globe. Prism will be used to predict and prevent respiratory infections by enabling everyone with a phone to accurately address this specific threat to their health.
